Junonia is a heartwarming story that everyone can relate to. The story starts with Alice going on vacation to Florida for her birthday, but everything goes wrong. First off, they go on this vacation every year, the same cottage, the same everything. Then many of her friends, who were expected to be there with her, can’t come. Then her Aunt Kate brings her boyfriend and his daughter. The daughter ruins everything for Alice, then Alice gets to know the girl and the girl starts to be nicer to her. I can’t tell you all of it. I think you should read it for yourself.

The recommendation on the book says 5-9th grade, but that seems pretty off. I’m in sixth grade and I liked it a lot, but I also think my brother in third grade could read it.

Graceling was about a girl who has to fight her natural power, which is the ability to kill anybody. She fights this power to protect her friends and family, and uses it to kill King Leck, who also has the power to convince anybody of anything. I love the book because it keeps you interested the whole time, and you never know what is going to happen next. I hope you read Graceling.

Roman reviews “Invisible Inkling” by Emily Jenkins

It’s an awesome book. It’s about an invisible friend who Hank finds under the sink because he was trying to get his Lego propeller for his helicopter set, and he feels a soft thing under the sink, but he doesn’t see anything. Then at school he makes friends with Chin, a nice girl who likes Hank a lot. One day Hank gets a bully who starts taking sprinkies and cheddar bunnies from Hank’s lunch, every day. Inkling helps Hank fight the bully, and is a good friend to Hank. Then they become really good friends, but Inkling wants to leave to New York to a pumpkin farm because he loves squash. I like this book because I like the characters Hank and Inkling and Chin, and it’s a good book because there are exciting and funny parts.

Girl Scouts get a book badge

We were pleased to host a Girl Scout troop from Diegueno Country School on Wednesday. The group of third graders started off with treats from Pannikin, then went on to critique some of the advance copies of upcoming kids’ picture books. They also worked on the displays in our children’s section, and each purchased a book and worked the check out. There were a lot of future booksellers in this wonderful troop, and we loved having them here!

This book is about a girl whose name is Eleanor, and her parents come in the room with bad news. They take a deep breath and say that her babysitter, Bibi, is moving. So Eleanor was very sad. Her heart was broken. They went to Bibi’s housewarming party and it was very sad. They saw her leave.

This was almost the best book I’ve ever read, because it had very nice, exciting parts in it, and it was just a really good book.

Review of “The Friendship Doll” by Kirby Larson

The Friendship Doll was a heartwarming story about four girls that opened a doll’s heart and soul. The characters were well illustrated and very well thought out. Just reading it, I could see a picture of what was happening. The Friendship Doll was very original.

Anna recommends “Scumble”

Scumble by: Ingrid Law is a great book. I think if you read Savvy the 1st book you will enjoy the sequel just as much. It’s funny, full of detail, and very well written. I like how Savvy & Scumble have similar topics, with new, and old characters. There are many emotions in this book, it could make you laugh or cry. There are situations in this book that every kid can relate to and that’s why some may like it most. I highly recommend this book, and if you buy it you won’t be disappointed.
